First, a few people have undergone training, but soon all the other employees are to do it too. Lower Silesian Railways has begun a first aid employee training programme which includes defibrillator handling. The training is being carried out under the “Lower Silesian Railways with a Kind Heart” initiative. Lower Silesian Railways employs over 600 staff and wants each of it members to be able to provide first aid. The company organised a training programme whereby its 13 railway workers learned about the rules of behaviour in cases of cardiac arrest, including handling AED’s (Automated External Defibrillator). The participants have become instructors, who will share their knowledge with the regional carrier’s entire staff. Lower Silesian Railways has at their disposal state-of-the-art equipment resistant to unfavourable atmospheric conditions. It will work at below zero temperatures and on wet surfaces, ensuring intuitive and easy operation by both adult people and children alike. The “Lower Silesian Railways with a Kind Heart” drive aims to improve the safety of the passengers of Lower Silesian trains. So far, defibrillators have been installed at railway stations in Legnica and Jelenia Góra, as well as on all new electric trains, which will join the service as soon as in autumn. AED’s will soon be available on every train of Lower Silesian Railways. Source and photo: Lower Silesian Railways
