36 entrepreneurs who were granted permits for business operation in Wałbrzych's Special Economic Zone "INVEST-PARK" are to funnel over 2.5 billion PLN to investment. At least 1,200 new workplaces are to be created as a result of the investment projects. One of the companies that decided to undertake further investments is the conglomerate Toyota, which owns production facilities in WSEZ - in Wałbrzych and Jelcz-Laskowice. Wałbrzych's Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland facility is to begin production of transmissions for hybrid propulsion systems. Additionally, research activity will be conducted from 2018. Another project involves launch of the manufacture of new petrol engines in Jelcz-Laskowice. Currently, Toyota Motor Industries Poland supplies diesel drive units. Altogether, the outlay for both investments will amount to 650 million PLN, with about 100 new workplaces to be created as a result. Another noteworthy investment to be undertaken is that of the concern Daimler in Jawor, in the Lower Silesian Economic Activity Zone. The facility owned by Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland will produce new generation four-cylinder engines. In its business operation permit, the investor declares an investment outlay of 300 million EUR and a few hundred workplaces. Moreover, the first Chinese investor has decided to do business in Wałbrzych's zone. Hongbo Clean Energy is going to develop a facility delivering LED lighting systems. The value of the investment is more than 78 million PLN, with about 100 people to find employment at the plant. WSEZ is the biggest of the 14 special economic zones operating in Poland. In 2016, it was expanded by an area of over 630 ha. The existing subzones in Prudnik and Otmuchów were enlarged. Additionally, 5 new subzones in Pleszewo, Bolków, Wądroż Wielki, Dobromierz and Jawor were created. Currently, it covers 3.5 thousand ha in 53 locations. Over 200 companies, boasting a total workforce of more than 48 thousand employees, have invested in the Wałbrzych zone.
