XEOR – join venture connected with GE Aviation and Lufthansa Technik, will build in Poland world class centre of airplanes’ engines service. The investment will be located in Środa Śląska in the area of Legnica Special Economic Zone. The value of the investment will be more than PLN 1 bn (Euro 250 m.) and about 500 people will find there a new place to work. Announcement of choosing this localisation was organized during the conference, on Monday 5th of December 2016. Deputy prime minister, minister of development and finances Mateusz Morawiecki, vice-chairman of GE Aviation Bill Millhaem and vice-chairman of Engine Services Lufthansa Technik Bernhard Krueger-Sprengel took part in this event. Well-qualified specialists and expanded infrastructure – these are the factors which decided about localization The priority for investor was to find the best location for modern centre of engines service.  During few months experts carefully examined all chosen localizations. Because of development potential and economic competitiveness, Legnica Special Economic Zone was chosen. The key argument was availability of well-qualified potential employees of service centre. Ground breaking ceremony is planned for March 2017, starting the operation in the facility will start from September 2018. Centre of service for the most modern airplanes’ engines The main task for the service centre in Środa Śląska will be servicing GEnx-2B engines and in the future also GE9X. Currently in commercial usage almost 500 GEnx-2B engines are used by 18 flight operators. Engines GE 9X, which will be delivered to the centre since 2021 are the most modern airplanes’ engines in their class. Their process of formal certification will end in 2018, however over 700 of them were ordered by operators all over the world.
