The National Centre for Research and Development has announced the results of the second "Application Projects" competition. – Through our "Application Projects" action, we support the best, high quality undertakings combining the potential of excellent research teams and enterprises interested in implementation on unique Polish technologies and products. Consortia comprising research units and enterprises are to be granted over 55 million PLN to enable innovative projects - says vice minister of science and higher education Piotr Dardziński PhD. The competition, part of sub-action 4.1.4 "Application Projects", has been organised by the NCRD for the second time, with a budget amounting to 200 million PLN. The projects entered into the competition, apart from showing world class innovativeness, had to be consistent with the so-called "National Intelligent Specialisation". Undertakings faring well were those whose scope reached beyond the regional level, and implementation profitability was one of the assessment criteria. The competition, where consortia comprising at least one research unit and one entrepreneur could apply for subsidies, saw 150 entries. 138 applications were referred for substantive assessment, performed by independent experts. The whole evaluation process took 90 days. Subsidies worth over 55.7 million PLN will be granted to 13 projects. The winning consortia will work on innovative, intelligent road signs enabling prevention of the most common accidents on dual carriageways, an innovative platform for screening therapeutical compounds, or a new solution involving automated checks of software for on-board devices, critical to flight safety.
