After the expansion of the fulfilment centre owned by the Wrocław based TIM SA company, one of Poland's biggest distributors of electrotechnical products, the facility will feature over 41,100 sq m of floor area, which is more than the surface area of Wrocław's or Cracow's market square. Worth 40 million PLN, the development project started on December 15 in Siechnice near Wrocław. Its completion is planned for Summer 2016. The Wrocław based TIM SA company is one of Poland's biggest distributors of electrotechnical materials. The company has owned its Siechnice based fulfilment centre, whose floor area is going to increase from 12 to over 41 thousand sq m, since 2008. The value of the investment amounts to more than 40 million PLN. – Currently, over 80 thousand shipments leave TIM SA's fulfilment centre every month to reach the company's customers. When the development project has been completed, the facility's capacity will allow as many as over 200 thousand shipments a month - says Krzysztof Folta, President of the Board at Wrocław's TIM SA. New workplaces at TIM SA Representatives of TIM SA stress that the fulfilment centre now undergoing expansion will be packed with state-of-the-art automatics to streamline the order fulfilment process. TIM will need new workforce. – Currently, we employ over 200 people in Siechnice. Bearing in mind that we're developing a facility that is three times as big, it's easy to imagine how many new workplaces will be created. What should be pointed out is that these will not be jobs with the minimum domestic wage - emphasises Krzysztof Folta. TIM SA in Poland and Europe The expansion of TIM SA's fulfilment centre is a result of the growth of the company, whose range of products includes offering from more than manufacturers – owners of well-known brands such as Bosch, Philips, Osram, Legrand, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Kontakt Simon, and 3M. TIM SA has been developing its Poland-wide network of electrical products warehouses for over a quarter of a century. – In July 2013, we launched our online store. We have observed a rapid rise in sales since then – says Krzysztof Folta: – Currently, 70 per cent of sales income comes from e-commerce. Last year, the company's aggregated turnover exceeded 0.5 billion PLN. In 2014, TIM completely changed its business model by abandoning the warehouse network concept and making online trade its priority. The Siechnice fulfilment centre started handling all customers of the company. It is worth mentioning that it does not only dispatch shipments domestically but also to customers from Western Europe, using e-shops run there by Rotopino.pl, whose control interest is owned by TIM SA.   Source: wroclaw.pl
