- The Internet of Things is developing extremely dynamically. Experts estimate that in 2021, out of 28 billion devices connected to the Internet, more than half will be IoT devices. It is therefore worth discussing how this technology is developed by Wrocław startups and mature companies, and how the city itself uses it - says Ewa Kaucz, president of the Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency, the main organizer of the event.

How IoT is developing in Wrocław

The fact that Wrocław has a lot of young technology companies working on Internet of Things solutions was the finding of last year's "Polish Startups" report prepared by the Startup Poland Foundation. According to the list in Wrocław there are the most in Poland of such companies. In addition, it is in Wrocław that the LoRaWAN network (an extensive narrowband long-range network) is being developed, which can provide data transmission speed in two directions at the level of 0.3 kbps to 50 kbps.

The project is carried out in cooperation with Thaumatec and the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The President of Thaumatec - Krzysztof Berezowski - will be one of the speakers at the event.

Another speaker will be Aleksandra Sękowska from ProxiGroup - a Wrocław startup that created the ProxiTrack platform. It enables the optimization of logistics processes thanks to the use of RFID technology that collects information, e.g. about the traffic and the path that each consignment passes in the switchboard.

ProxiGroup was among others in the final of the "GammaRebels powered by Poczta Polska" program, it also received a grant in the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument program run by the European Commission.

How to effectively build an IoT company

Patryk Szymczak will be presenting his experiences in the field of the Internet of Things. He is a serial entrepreneur who created recognizable Wrocław startup named Cloud Your Car. Szymczak has implemented over a dozen IoT products on the market and sold them to 50 countries around the world. Today he is involved in several projects, and during the meetup he will talk about "successfully building IoT companies".

Capgemini is the content partner of the event. The Wrocław Capgemini Software Solutions Center has been operating in the city since 2004. It provides services in the field of information technology, IT specialists create individual software for prestigious clients there. Wroclaw programmers have the opportunity to manage smart buildings for one of the largest companies in the technology industry, they also created a project that allows you to make instant money transfers. Capgemini has many IoT enthusiasts in the team.
