Cookies and chocolate, and consumer tastes are going to be researched at the state-of-the-art Mondelēz International Centre for Research, Development and Quality near Wrocław. 250 new workplaces have been created thanks to the USD 17 million initiative. The investment was announced in 2015 - now Mondelēz International have kept their word by opening their Centre for Research, Development and Quality in Bielany Wrocławskie on June 8, 2017. The meeting was attended by representatives of the company, self-government officials, and scientists. The choice of Wrocław as the location for the Centre is not coincidental. For years now, Poland has been one of our most important markets in Central Europe. On the other hand, Wrocław is a modern city open to investment. The place boasts the best technology tertiary institutes and well-qualified staff; we also have many years’ experience of effective cooperation with the local authorities - says Rob Hargrove, Executive Vice President of Research, Development, Quality and Innovation at Mondelēz International. Testers will study chocolate Representatives of the conglomerate stress that the centre’s state-of-the-art laboratories will conduct research works on new recipes for cookies and chocolate under the brands including Milka, Alpen Gold, Lubisie, Prince Polo and Oreo. Also, a sensory test centre has been developed, where “testers” will create a kind of product specification sheet accurately describing over 50 parameters of a product, such as taste, smell, and texture. It will make it possible to precisely control quality in the production process so that it meets consumers’ all expectations. - The still dynamically growing European snack market is worth almost USD 400 billion. We, too, cannot stand still if we want to build competitive advantage. Innovations in this region of Europe have been for years part of our business strategy - says Hubert Weber, the company’s Executive Vice President and President of Mondelēz Europe. One of the centre’s important elements is a specially designed, modern “mini production plant” (a so-called pilot plant line). it will enable analysis of the existing production processes and the development and implementation of more effective technical solutions in the production of cookies and chocolate.
