Citizens’ Budget Active Lower Silesia – summary of the first edition

First edition of Regional Citizens’ Budget Lower Silesia almost ended. From more than 120 sport initiatives and touristic ones the citizens chose 18 winners. All of them were realized, or will be realized till the end of this year. On Tuesday 18^th of October the first edition of the Programme was summarised and social consultations were begun for the second edition of Regional Citizen’s Budget “Active Lower Silesia”. Lower Silesians took part in making the decision about financing the chosen project by voting. For the first time there was an opportunity for citizens to submit their own ideas. Budget for sport and tourists events was estimated at about 600 thousand zlotych during the first edition and was focused on “soft projects” like local sport competitions and conferences. The aim of the programme Budget Active Lower Silesia is to create an effective tool, which will help to build civil society in Lower Silesia area and improve the feeling of identification with our region. It is worth to mention that Lower Silesian self-government realizes pioneer investment programmes, like building athletic stadiums (“Lower Silesia for the Queen of Sport”) and swimming pools near schools (“Lower Silesian’s Dolphins”).   Source: http://www.umwd.dolnyslask.pl/
