A new field of study is being launched. Just in time for innovators and environmentalists
The SWPS Department of Graphic Design is launching the first innovative postgraduate program in digital product design with sustainability goals: Sustainable Digital Design. This is an offer for those who put the future of humans and the environment at the center of the design process.
Dynamic changes in the ICT industry, technology and digital product design, led the team of the USWPS Graphics Department in Wroclaw to launch a new postgraduate course: Sustainable Digital Design. They are aimed at those wishing to expand their competence in designing sustainable digital products for the future.
A change in the approach to design
According to Martyna Mrozek, designer, co-director of the major and co-author of the Sustainable Digital Design postgraduate program, we are living in an extremely interesting time of dynamic change, in which we have a responsibility to take care of our world and try to understand it anew every day. According to her, for the first time in sixty years, thanks to the popularity of artificial intelligence-based solutions, the paradigm of interaction design with digital products is changing.
For the first time since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007, we are seeing real innovation and changes in the approach to interface design of new technologies, thanks to immersive interfaces, among other things.
Martyna Mrozek
According to Martyna Mrozek, the UN agenda challenges designers to build a better world for future generations.
Studying Sustainable Digital Design will teach adaptation to change, enabling designers of digital products to look consciously into the future.

They will create innovatively and eco-friendly
The study aims to prepare graduates to meet the challenges of the modern world by designing innovative, ecological and sustainable digital solutions. During the course, students will learn about the wide spectrum of design applications in creating digital solutions that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
Among the competencies students will acquire during the course of study will be:
- knowledge of the challenges of design based on the Sustainable Development Goals
- knowledge of circular solutions
- understanding of the social and environmental impact of digital products
- knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence developments and their applications
- knowledge and skills to use AI in design, including designing for and with artificial intelligence
- ability to study and analyze trends and forecast the future, understanding what trends are and how to study them
- ability to design user experiences and interfaces, including immersive interfaces and wearables, going beyond contemporary technology frameworks
- the ability to use technology out of the box
- knowledge of inclusive design, based on diversity and neurodiversity, integrating brain knowledge into digital projects
- leadership skills for social change
Who is the new degree program for?
The Sustainable Digital Design postgraduate program is aimed at those interested in broadening their digital design perspective and empowering themselves. Recipients of the study include:
- individuals working in the technology and creative sectors who "look wider".
- people who co-found startups and software houses, who want to prepare the organization to meet the challenges of today and the future, and be able to realize services and products in a sustainable way.
- activists and activists who are socially engaged/committed, sensitive/sensitive to environmental issues.
- individuals striving to make a positive impact on the world and the environment.
- individuals focused on protecting the environment and ensuring social justice
- individuals promoting digital ecology and the relationship between technology and the environment
- individuals implementing technology that promotes sustainable development
- individuals interested in predicting and shaping the trends of the future
- startups, designers and small business owners looking to create innovations
- designers looking for a future-oriented specialization
A unique project with a market partner
An integral part of the program will be a credit project, which is expected to consist of a project in the field of sustainable design, taking into account Agenda 2030. Students will have the opportunity to work with a specialized market partner, which will allow them to apply the acquired knowledge in practice and make valuable professional contacts.
