Amazon is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the Wroclaw area. The American giant has created thousands of jobs

3 logistics centres, thousands of jobs or programmes for people with disabilities - Amazon sums up a decade of operations in Lower Silesia. During the 'Art of Innovation' event in Bielany Wroclawskie, the company showcased its achievements over the past 10 years, with a particular focus on local initiatives.
Fostering innovation and supporting diversity
Amazon's logistics centres in Bielany Wrocławskie (Kobierzyce municipality) are among the company's first investments in the country. Completed in 2014, the two 95,000 sq m facilities are integrated into Amazon's European Order Fulfilment Network, making it the region to serve customers from across Europe.
In May this year, it also became the first site in the European Union (and the third in the world) to launch a pilot project to support visually impaired employees. The pioneering HOMER initiative provides jobs for visually impaired people in the packaging process, product receiving and manual parcel sorting.
It's also home to the MigaMY project, which provides employment for the deaf and hard of hearing in logistics centres.
Amazon's investment in Bielany Wrocławskie has played a significant role in the economic development of Lower Silesia, creating thousands of jobs and improving infrastructure. Not only have we been able to attract new talent, but we have also introduced innovative employee programmes to increase the inclusiveness of local employment. Our investment is also reflected in social development, making the region more open to diversity and innovation.

Amazon in Lower Silesia. For the benefit of the local community
Amazon's operational activities contribute to supporting the local communities of which it is an integral part. Among many initiatives, we can mention the opening of Kindlotek, modern educational spaces created in cooperation with the Digital Dialogue Association and the Zaczytani.org Foundation.
Thanks to them, children and young people from the region can acquire knowledge and skills in STEM subjects, i.e. science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Lower Silesia has the largest number of Kindlots in the country - 29 of them are located near the logistics centres in Bielany Wroclawskie. The company's representatives also spoke at the 'STEM - Calculate your future' educational campaign run by the Wroclaw Agglomeration Development Agency.
With 10 years of presence in Poland, we feel a responsibility to use our resources and technological potential to help wherever we can. While Amazon's activities are mainly focused on the communities around its logistics centres, our commitment to digital transformation and education for children and young people, including initiatives such as Amazon STEM Kindloteki, extends across Poland. We are also involved in charitable giving, supporting more than 100 national and local organisations and participating in significant community projects with the support of 1,200 Amazon volunteers.
