AI is the future of e-commerce

More and more is being said about artificial intelligence in the context of e-commerce. Representatives of the industry will discuss it during the free, hybrid business conference Made in Wroclaw 2021, which will take place on October 20. One of its most important points will be the scale of application of AI mechanisms in the full management process of an online store.

- At eobuwie.pl, we are aware that solutions based on artificial intelligence are the future of e-commerce. In practice, AI will not only make the purchasing process more pleasant, but also relieve our employees, for example in logistics centers through e.g. picking robots sorting goods in warehouses. It is also often very attractive from the point of view of consumers who are fascinated by innovations in the fashion-tech industry. Using our technological facilities, we make use of our Pepper robots, who work as sales assistants in stationery stores. They talk about the offer of a given salon and interact with customers. Additionally, we decided to make selected functionalities of esize.me available in the mobile application. It is a service that recommends the right footwear size based on a foot scan. In the case of children, it also monitors the development of the foot. Artificial intelligence plays an important role at esize.me and we want to develop its application. We see great potential in this field - explains Mikołaj Wezdecki, member of the management board of eobuwie.pl S.A., e-commerce director.

Changing shopping habits means increasing e-commerce

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted our buying habits and made the e-commerce industry dynamically accelerate its development. The report "Internet trade in Poland 2020" showed that the value of the Polish e-commerce market increased to PLN 77 billion in 2020 from PLN 61 billion recorded in 2019.

- E-commerce made life easier for consumers and businesses during Covid and has settled in for good in our homes and businesses. Over 21 million Poles buy online. Online shopping in 2021 will account for 10% of total retail trade. At the same time, customers do not treat e-commerce separately from buying in a stationary store, in a marketplace such as Allegro, or via the hotline or mobile application. This is one world where more and more information can be collected. This means huge potential for the use of broadly understood AI. For Polish business, it is both an opportunity and a threat, because the amount of data gives an advantage, and more data can be collected globally. We can increase their number by combining information from sales, payments, logistics and production, and even from the way the devices are used, so that the factory and shop we visit at the end know what to send us home. This is a futuristic future, but there are regions, such as China, where this future becomes a reality - comments Grzegorz Rudno-Rudziński, President of the Management Board of the ITCorner Cluster, Managing Partner, Unity Group.

Discussions on whether Europe has a chance in this competition and whether consumers want to deal with autonomous artificial intelligence will be part of the discussion panel on "E-commerce - another dimension of shopping", which will take place during Made in Wroclaw 2021. It will be attended by representatives of Amazon, eobuwie.pl, Pneumat, CBRE, Unity Group and ITCorner.

- E-commerce is a very important market sector to which it shows from our report "The AI sector in the Wrocław agglomeration", as many as 28% of Wrocław companies developing technologies related to AI direct their offer. Talks about the prospects related to it could not be missed at the cyclical Made in Wroclaw conference, where this year we meet under the slogan Driven by Intelligence - says Mateusz Jarzombek, Director of the Business Support Center at the Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency.

Participation in the Made in Wroclaw 2021 conference is free, however, registration at www.made-in-wroclaw.pl is required. In addition to the e-commerce panel, discussions will take place in the role of a leader and team building in the era of artificial intelligence, smart cities and the MedTech sector.
