Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency – since 10 years has been supporting investors

This year it is the 10th year of operations of Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency SA (ARAW). During this time ARAW gained more than 200 companies, which in the area of Wrocław agglomeration employ about 85 000 people. The most important events of this decade and plans for the future were discussed during a special conference in Business Garden Wrocław. In the meeting participated among others the representatives of Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency, investors and the Ministry of Development.
During 10 years of its operation Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency (ARAW) persuaded to run in the agglomeration area over 200 foreign investors like: BASF, IBM, Google, Bosch, UBS, Volvo, 3M, Nokia, Dolby, Credit Suisse and LG. ARAW also supports Polish entrepreneurs – both by local development of its operations and internationalization and building its brand beyond the agglomeration. Because of its activities the organization helped to create 85 thousand of working places.
During the last decade also the structure of the direct foreign investments changed. In 2005 Wrocław agglomeration was attractive mainly for production companies, and for those who as the most important factor took finance efficiency and the system of the social care.
Today Wrocław can be proud of the biggest in Poland number of R&D centres, operation Knowledge Process Outsourcing and being a big IT hub.
Labour market and infrastructure
Only in 2016, because of ARAW’s help 20 enterprises decided to invest in Wrocław, what makes 7 thousand new working places.
- Today with satisfaction I can inform that Becton Dickinson decided to develop its centre in Wrocław. Now the company employs 300 employees. It is going to employ 50 more people soon – says Dariusz Ostrowski, the chairman of ARAW.
- Today wroclaw.pl is a unique medium, with more than one million views monthly, what makes us the most efficient local portal in Poland – pledges Dariusz Ostrowski, the chairman of ARAW.
- Looking for talents is the biggest challenge for us. Today we are a city with positive migration balance and positive demographic forecast. However, we know that only that intensive operations can supply us with the sustainable growth – says Ewa Kaucz, vice-chairman of ARAW. – In 2017 it will be organizing projects with universities. It is important to build a connection between Y and Z generation.
