The Borg Automotive Group will open a research and development center in Wroclaw
The Borg Automotive Group has announced the establishment of a new Reverse Engineering Laboratory (RE:LAB) in Wrocław. This is the Danish company’s response to the rapid development of modern technologies, which are being increasingly adopted in the automotive industry. The new facility, which is scheduled to open in Wrocław in October 2026, will be of strategic importance for strengthening the company’s technological capabilities and expanding its product portfolio.
The Borg Automotive Group is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of automotive replacement parts—both new and remanufactured. It will open a new research and development center in Wrocław. The new center will focus primarily on expanding the company’s capabilities in the redesign of products with embedded software.
The establishment of RE:LAB is an important step toward strengthening our technological capabilities and preparing the Borg Automotive Group for the growing complexity of software-based automotive components. Advanced Analysis of Automotive Software
RE:LAB was established with clearly defined goals. The team’s primary focus will be on advanced reverse engineering in the field of automotive software, including, among other things, the analysis of communication data transmitted via automotive communication networks such as CAN and FlexRay buses.

These communication systems play a key role in the operation of modern vehicles, as they enable the exchange of data between various electronic control units.
A detailed analysis of this data will allow engineers to reconstruct key information regarding the behavior of individual components and the interactions between systems.
The findings from these analyses will be used to create comprehensive data packages that will serve as input for testing remanufactured automotive parts. This approach will ensure that the components offered by Borg Automotive meet stringent quality and performance requirements.
A State-of-the-Art Laboratory in Wrocław
In addition to its core research and development activities, RE:LAB will work closely with other departments within the company. The center will provide specialized expertise and support in areas such as the installation of remanufactured mechatronic products in vehicles and cataloging processes.
To achieve its goals, the new research and development center will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This will include advanced measurement systems, specialized workshop equipment for installing components in vehicles, and dedicated tools for communication analysis
The facility will combine a modern laboratory space with office areas. The laboratory will be designed to allow for practical experiments and technical analyses.

The list of R&D centers in Wrocław is growing
It is worth noting that this is not the only research and development center to join the list of such facilities in Wrocław this year. Before the summer break—in June—Toyota officially opened its Digital Hub, which focuses on developing applications, cloud infrastructure, and services for users of Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
This shows that Wrocław, which currently hosts over a hundred R&D (Research and Development) centers, is an attractive location for international business. All the more so because, as forecasts indicate, the city has strong prospects for growth.
A recently published report by Oxford Economics—a consulting firm specializing in economic forecasts and analyses, presents projections indicating that Wrocław, alongside Warsaw, Kraków, and Gdańsk, will be among Europe’s leading cities in terms of growth.
This refers to the period through 2030, when the capital of Lower Silesia is expected to achieve an average annual GDP growth rate of over 3 percent. This is a particularly strong result compared to the rest of the European continent, where the projected growth rate is significantly lower in many countries.
