Inauguration of Wrocław–Paris Orly flights

The flight that inaugurated the regular service between Paris Orly Airport and Wrocław was marked by an unusual ceremony. Cédric Peltier, the Consul General of France, traveled to Wrocław for the occasion. Renata Granowska, Vice President of Wrocław, Didier Guisy, Honorary Consul of France in Wrocław, and Karol Przywara, President of Port Lotniczy Wrocław SA, also participated in the ceremonial welcome of the first passengers.

Officials welcomed the passengers and crew of the aircraft, who had arrived from Orly in the afternoon, on the tarmac. There were also French touches—a ground handling employee at Wrocław Airport, directing the pilots to their parking spot, was dressed in a costume reminiscent of Napoleon Bonaparte.

This is a special day for the airport, for passengers, and for the residents of Wrocław and Lower Silesia, as it opens up new possibilities. We are expanding our route network to include flights almost to the center of Paris said Renata Granowska, Vice President of Wrocław, at a press briefing before the arrival of the Transavia flight from Orly.

“It is always a moving moment for the consul when a new route connecting to France is launched. I believe it will also help maintain the good cooperation between Poland and France, which continues to grow” emphasized Cédric Peltier, Consul General of France.

The perfect way to enjoy a city break in Paris

Wrocław airport authorities have long sought to establish a connection with the French capital. Although flights from Wrocław to Paris-Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport operated for a time in the previous decade, they did not return to the schedule after the pandemic.

French destinations are always very popular—this was the case with flights from Wrocław to Marseille and Nice. That is why I am convinced that the new connection to Orly will be a hit this summer

said Karol Przywara, president of Wrocław Airport.

Flights to Orly could, for example, be a great opportunity for a city break to the French capital, convenient due to the airport’s location—just a dozen or so kilometers from the city center.

The airport president also hopes that the route will become a permanent fixture in the flight schedule from the capital of Lower Silesia. For now, Transavia will fly twice a week between Wrocław and Orly Airport—on Thursdays and Sundays. For this carrier from the Franco-Dutch group, this marks its debut on the Wrocław route. However, according to CEO Przywara’s remarks, the airline may also begin serving other destinations from Wrocław.
