All people with regular income are required to file their income tax returns by April 30th of the following year. There are several ways to do this. PIT declarations for 2024 can be filled in by hand and taken directly to the tax office or sent by post. However, a more convenient form is to settle your tax online with the program "Twój e-PIT".

It is also important that you do not have to be registered here to file your tax return in Wroclaw. It is enough to enter your Wroclaw address on the tax return, because for tax purposes, the place of residence, not the place of registration, counts. So anyone who works, studies and lives in the capital of Lower Silesia can do it.

Thanks to our taxes, life is better in Wroclaw

According to Marcin Urban, treasurer of Wroclaw, the positive changes in the financing rules for local governments and the significant increase in their share of PIT revenue are very important. After the changes, more than half of the city's budget is financed from these taxes. That's 4.084 billion PLN.

Let's start with the fact that, together with the government, the local government side has recently changed the regulations governing the inflow of PIT and CIT taxes into local government budgets. This is an extremely important change. It has significantly increased the share of income from these taxes. We are talking about these taxes because these funds make it possible to carry out many necessary investment tasks in our city. That is why it is so important that all residents who are here with us in our city use the municipal infrastructure and fill in their Wroclaw address on their PIT. Then these taxes will flow into our city.

Specific benefits for the city and taxpayers in Wroclaw

Thanks to the funds that come from taxes settled in Wroclaw, it is possible to implement many investments that are extremely important for the city.

These include the bus and tram route to Jagodno and new tram routes to Swojczyce, Maślice, Klecina and the hospital on Borowska Street, as well as the new Mosty Chrobrego (Chrobry Bridges).

Other important projects include the construction of three state-of-the-art schools in Poland – on Cynamonowa Street, Zwycięska Street and in the Wojszyce district – and the renovation of tenement houses. The latter was the topic of a briefing on personal income tax returns given by Michał Młyńczak, the vice-mayor of Wroclaw.

Example: “PoWroTy Kamienic” (Returning Tenements) which means 100 comprehensive renovations of buildings

Last year, tenements on Kurkowa, Barycka, Komuny Paryskiej and Prądzyńskiego streets were renovated, among others.

The city intends to renovate 100 tenement houses in Wroclaw by 2029 at a cost of around 250 million PLN. The same applies to the interior of courtyards and backyards. The city will allocate around 140 million PLN for this by 2029. And in 2024, nearly 60 million PLN were allocated for the implementation of these tasks. That is why it is so important for residents to get involved through their PIT returns. These investments would not be possible without them.

Michał Młyńczak, Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw

The city systematically selects new buildings for this program - acting both selectively (individual tenement houses) and in areas. As part of "#ProjektPtasia", 16 tenement houses located close to each other in Nadodrze (Ptasia, Kurkowa, Podwórcowa, Pl. Strzelecki) have been designated. A similar project is also to be implemented in Brochów in the area of Chińska, Koreańska, Polna and 3 Maja streets.

Benefits for taxpayers filing their PIT in Wroclaw

People who file their PIT in Wroclaw also have many significant benefits. The program “Nasz Wrocław” (Our Wroclaw) was prepared with them in mind, allowing them to take advantage of many attractive discounts in the areas of culture, art, sports, entertainment, education, and more.

The “Nasz Wrocław” program offers a range of discounts on admission to cultural institutions, among others. It offers cheaper tickets to over 70 attractions and more favorable prices for public transport.

The “Wrocław się zmienia” (Wroclaw is changing) campaign. The city encourages people to file their PIT in Wroclaw.

From today (February 17th), billboards and posters will be visible throughout the city as part of the campaign. The city is encouraging people to file their PIT returns in Wroclaw. It wants to reach up to 50,000 taxpayers who have so far filed their tax returns elsewhere.

What amount of money could they bring to the Wroclaw budget?

“It is tens of millions of PLN, so it is a very significant amount. About 10 percent of the income earned by the residents will go to the city budget. These are significant funds” emphasizes Marcin Urban.
