The bus operator Nobina has placed an order 13 electric Volvo buses, which will start running in Malmö in late 2018. It is the biggest single order placed for Volvo 7900 Electric so far and one of the key driving forces behind the whole electric bus traffic in Sweden.  “The fact that one of the main routes in Malmö will become completely electrified thanks to quiet and emission-free electric buses fills one with satisfaction. The use of buses that run on electric power positively impacts the environment, which is important for all those who live, travel or spend time in the city. It’s a trend that we want to develop” – said Jörgen Sjöstedt, Director of Volvo Buses’ Scandinavian operations. “Also highly important is the fact that we have again become suppliers for Nobina, to which we have delivered our buses for over 80 years. Nobina is one of our most important partners.” The new buses are the Volvo 7900 Electric. They need about 80 per cent less energy than their counterparts using diesel engines and run on the ecological electric power to minimise the harmful impact on the environment and climate. The buses’ batteries will be charged at end stops of their routes. The process will take from 3 to 6 minutes. The buses will serve Malmö’s 14.7 km long route 7. The electric buses made by Volvo have recently started running in the Luxembourg city Differdange. Apart from the fully electrified bus Volvo 7900 Electric, the range of electric vehicles supplied by Volvo Buses comprises hybrid models and electric-hybrid (plug-in) buses. Overall, the company has sold over 3,500 electric energy powered Volvo buses worldwide. Volvo 7900 Electric bus
