The first Polish-German Business Mixer in Wroclaw: focus on innovation

Innovation, establishing cooperation and exchanging experiences – these are the main topics of the “Wroclaw-Berlin Business Mixer”. The first Polish-German Business Mixer in Wroclaw is intended to be the beginning of cooperation from which both cities and the companies operating in them can benefit greatly.
Why was the Wroclaw-Berlin Business Mixer organized?
Berlin can be a window to the world for Wroclaw startups. Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and space are areas in which innovative companies from Wroclaw and Berlin can do business and cooperate.
When looking for common elements in the economic sphere of Wroclaw and Berlin, we decided that innovation and a dynamic startup ecosystem are what connect us. Berlin has more experience, but we have nothing to be ashamed of and can be an attractive partner for them. Hence today's meeting between innovators from our cities.
Magdalena Okulowska, President of the Management Board of ARAW S.A.
What is the Wroclaw-Berlin Business Mixer
Martin Kremer, German Consul General in Wroclaw, emphasizes that Wroclaw has an interesting startup ecosystem and that the “Wroclaw-Berlin Business Mixer” meeting is an important beginning of cooperation between innovative companies from Berlin and Wroclaw, especially those in the fields of digitization, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology.
We know that Wroclaw is the Polish capital of innovation. Innovations are created in Wroclaw and sold in Berlin. Berlin is a city of major trade fairs and it is worth being there. For Wroclaw startups, Berlin can be a window to the world.
Martin Kremer, German Consul General in Wroclaw.
The consul adds that the meeting is the first step in cooperation between innovative companies, with further talks to be held at the Economic Forum in Karpacz and the Made in Wroclaw conference in October.
Jakub Mazur, Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw, has no doubt that the location and proximity of Wroclaw and Berlin make the two cities natural partners.
We hope that these meetings between our startup ecosystems will allow us to better understand how to effectively obtain financing and how to build mentoring. We also want the world of science to be able to implement its ideas and innovations within startups from Wroclaw and Berlin.
Jakub Mazur, Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw
We have been cooperating with Berlin for over a dozen years. This was evident, among other things, during the European Capital of Culture in Wroclaw. We are continuing this cooperation through initiatives such as “Train to Culture” and artist exchanges. We are interested in economic exchange, which is why we organized this meeting for startups. We are pleased with the interest shown by Berlin.
Aleksandra Pierścińska-Lichwa, Foreign Cooperation Office of the City of Wroclaw
How can Wroclaw startups do business in Germany?
The meeting was attended by Maciej Kawecki, a Wroclaw native who has been running a business in Berlin for many years and knows and understands the expectations of companies operating in Poland and Germany very well. He coordinated the preparations for the Business Mixer in Wroclaw on the Berlin side.
Polish companies want to do a lot of things in Germany, but they don't have patience. And in Germany, you have to do everything slowly: build contacts, trust, and that takes 2-3 years. For Polish entrepreneurs, that's too long, and they prefer to do business elsewhere. It's a shame that this is the case. Our business mixer is here to change that.

The first Polish-German Business Mixer in Wroclaw was attended by representatives of companies, institutions supporting the development of startups, local authorities from both cities, the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the Berlin Ministry of Economics.
