In Wroclaw there will be fast chargers for electric cars made by Volvo
There are 2.7 thousand "electrics" driving in our city, plus almost 40 thousand hybrids, some of which are plug-in, which means that they can be recharged in a stationary way, increasing the driving range only "on electricity". The number of charging stations has already exceeded 220, and today the city signed an agreement with Volvo to create more, which will make it possible to charge a car in a dozen minutes.
The grant from Volvo will also create two solar stations for charging e-bikes and e-scooters. Wroclaw was awarded the title of "Local Government Leader in Electromobility" last year. It was recognized for, among other things, a large number of charging stations for electric cars. There are also bonuses for drivers of such cars. They do not have to pay for parking, and they do not get stuck in traffic jams because they can use bus lanes.

- Also 10 years ago, we had 22 electric cars and 14 hybrids in Wroclaw, recalls Jakub Mazur, deputy mayor of Wroclaw.
At present, only the City Hall has 12 electric cars, which are used, for example, by ZDiUM to electronically search for paid parking spaces. Some of the city's greenery, resource management and investment vehicles are also equipped with green boards.
We are not sleeping in ashes! We are attracting leaders in e-mobility. Today we are signing an agreement with Volvo to install super-fast charging stations at two locations in the city. With 175 kW of power, the charging time for cars will be reduced to a dozen minutes, and a full charge can be achieved in less than an hour.

Charging stations are key for electric car owners
Private owners of all-electric cars can use the city's 17 bus lanes or park in special blue parking spaces in the city center, since they are zero-emission vehicles.
The increase in the number of electric cars would not be possible without the construction of infrastructure. Three years ago, we had 150 charging points in Wroclaw, now we have 222, and today we are adding two more stations, each with two charging points. The city supports the construction of publicly accessible charging infrastructure. To this end, at the end of 2020 we adopted preferential rates for the provision of municipal land. We have also developed a procedure for faster cooperation with private entities under clearly defined conditions.

The city provided artistic guidelines for the appearance of the charging stations so that the character of the city would not be disturbed and the stations would fit into the existing land use, especially in the city center. All of this has led to increased interest from businesses.
Augustów, Ełk, Wrocław - three cities powered by Volvo
Wroclaw is the third city in the "ev City powered by Volvo" program. The Swedish car company is working towards an electric future by implementing a number of initiatives for zero-emission transport and clean air.
The goal of eV City powered by Volvo is to improve the quality of life for residents by improving air quality in 35 of Poland's largest cities. The key to achieving this mission is to popularize electromobility and zero-emission transportation. For Volvo, the future of driving is smart, fully electric cars. The company has pledged to introduce an all-electric range by 2030 and to be completely carbon neutral by 2040.

- Our city needs more of these stations to meet the growing needs of electric vehicle users. As a Volvo brand, we are clearly pioneers in this area, given the current number of DC chargers in the city. We were the first to install 175 kW chargers, which enable fast charging of electric cars in 20-30 minutes," said Maciej Warych from Volvo Car Wroclaw-Bielany. - We are showing that electric cars can be used in a very similar way to combustion cars, while being environmentally friendly.
