LG Energy Solution at the Munich trade fair. Wroclaw plant is key to the European ESS sector

Under the slogan “Empower Every Possibility, Empower Whenever You Need,” the Korean company LG Energy Solution presented its innovative production lines at ees Europe 2025 in Munich, Europe's largest international trade fair for batteries and energy storage systems (ESS).

LG Energy Solution has announced that its production plant in Wroclaw is launching production lines for ESS (energy storage) systems, which are scheduled to start in the second half of 2025.

“This strategic move will give the company a competitive advantage in terms of faster response to market needs, lower logistics costs and better adaptation to local conditions. With its plant in Wroclaw, LG Energy Solution is the only ESS manufacturer in Europe that can produce products from cells to complete systems,” says LG Energy Solution.

Ees Europe 2025 trade fair in Munich

At this year's ees Europe trade fair, LG Energy Solution showcased a new generation of ESS products for power grids based on LFP cells – an integrated DC system in a 20-foot container, manufactured entirely in Europe – from cells to systems. The solution is based on the JF2S cell manufactured at LG Energy Solution's plant in Wrocław and offers 2.7 times more capacity than the previous JF1 cell, as well as an exceptionally long service life of up to 15,000 cycles.

In the home battery segment, the company showcased its European JF1R and JF1 battery lines with a modular design. Manufactured in Europe, they ensure faster delivery, supply stability, and full compliance with EU quality standards. Thanks to the plug-and-play system, installation can be completed by a single technician in just 10 minutes. Powered by the proprietary SoX algorithm, these batteries offer the industry's highest state of charge estimation accuracy, which translates into stability and reliability. The products are covered by a 15-year warranty.

“With growing demand in Europe for ESS systems for grids, households, and UPS, LG Energy Solution is consistently expanding its local production capacity and delivering top-quality solutions to meet diverse customer needs,” said Hyung Kim, head of the ESS battery division at LG Energy Solution.

LG Energy Solution also unveiled its UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) battery solution, which addresses the growing needs of IT infrastructure, including AI data centers.

LG Energy Solution Wroclaw to build a giant electricity storage facility

In March this year, it was reported that LG Energy Solution Wroclaw will build one of the largest electricity storage facilities in Europe.

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna has signed an agreement with LG Energy Solution Wroclaw for the construction of an Electric Energy Storage Facility in Żarnowiec with a capacity of 262 MW and approx. 981 MWh. The gross value of the agreement amounted to PLN 1.555 billion. Construction is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2027.

LG Energy Solution Wroclaw is the largest electric car battery manufacturer in Europe. In Biskupice Podgórne near Wroclaw, there is a 100-hectare modern technology park, which employs several thousand people of various nationalities. The company produces 700,000 EV batteries per year, and its goal is to produce one million batteries for electric cars per year. The factory near Wrocław produces batteries that power cars from leading global brands.
