For all these activities the company has concluded an agreement with the Polish government and will receive public aid in the amount of 76 million PLN.

The Korean LG Energy Solution Wroclaw in Biskupice Podgórne (originally named LG Chem Wroclaw Energy), is Europe's largest producer of batteries for electric cars. It is an investment worth over EUR 3 billion. Thanks to it, Poland is the largest exporter of car batteries in the European Union. The batteries produced in the Wroclaw agglomeration are used in electric cars manufactured by such automotive giants as Audi, BMW, Fiat, Ford, Porsche and Volkswagen.

LG Energy Solution Wroclaw: lithium-ion battery factory

The Koreans want to expand LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, and this means that the battery factory for electric cars in Kobierzyce near Wroclaw will be the largest in the world.

- In connection with the dynamic development of the sector of lithium-ion batteries for electric cars and the expansion of the production plant in Biskupice Podgórne, LG Energy Solution Wroclaw applied for public aid under the "Programme for the support of investments of considerable importance for Polish economy for years 2011-2030". The aim of the government programme is to increase innovation and competitiveness of the Polish economy by supporting new investments realized by Polish companies

LG Energy Solution Wroclaw received state aid from the Polish government under the "Programme for the support of investments of significant importance to the Polish economy for the years 2011-2030".
 
The Ministry of Development and Technology signed an agreement with a Korean company to provide public assistance in the form of a targeted grant in connection with the implementation by LG Energy Solution Wroclaw Sp. z o.o. of an investment consisting in the expansion of the plant and installation of new production lines at the plant producing lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
- The Ministry of Development and Technology, in connection with the implementation of the investment, undertakes to provide support to the company from public funds in the years 2023-2024 in the form of targeted grant for eligible costs of the investment, in the maximum amount of PLN 76,164,807

- as stated in the agreement.

In addition, according to the agreement, LG Energy Solution Wroclaw is to establish cooperation with universities, including subsidizing educational costs, organizing internships and apprenticeships, setting up laboratories, commissioning scientific research or funding scholarships, for which it will spend 11 424 721 PLN.

LG Energy Solution Wroclaw will cooperate with the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.

LG Energy Solution Wroclaw: 500 new jobs

Help from the Polish government will enable LG Energy Solution Wroclaw to build a new stage of the production plant and increase the production capacity of the lithium-ion battery factory in Biskupice Podgórne. The company will invest in new buildings and production lines, it will also create at least 500 new jobs, including 249 jobs for people with higher education, of which 206 will be engineering jobs.

- LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, will implement advanced and innovative production technologies, which will allow for more intensive development of the region, the whole industry and acquiring new business partners. The company's investment will strengthen Poland's position as the most advanced center of electric vehicle development in the European Union

LG Energy Solution Wroclaw - the largest investment in the region

In 2021 LG Energy Solution Wroclaw celebrated its five-year anniversary. The company started its activity in 2016. According to the plans, the LG concern was to invest 1.3 billion PLN in the Kobierzyce commune near Wroclaw and employ about a thousand workers.
 
Currently LG Energy Solution Wroclaw occupies an area of about 100 hectares and employs about 10,000 people, which makes it one of the largest employers in the Wroclaw agglomeration.
 
With the completion of the ongoing fourth stage of the expansion LG Energy Solution Wroclaw will reach the target production capacity of 100 GWh. The total cost of the investment in Biskupice Podgórne will be €3.2 billion.

  • The company also has technology centers in China, Germany and the United States, and a research and development center in Korea. In the U.S. the LG group closely cooperates with General Motors, with which it is building another factory of cells used in electric cars.

Korean investments in Wroclaw

The activity of LG Energy Solution Wroclaw resulted in introducing the most modern technology and attracting many other investments in Wroclaw and the agglomeration.
