Poland is more innovative than last year, a European Commission report shows. The country moved up by one notch to No. 23 on the latest European Innovation Scoreboard. Last year, Poland was ranked 24th. According to Poland's deputy Development Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz, Poland's performance in terms of innovation is expected to improve significantly through the implementation of the government's Plan for Responsible Development. "We want to change the approach to investment in the R&D sector," Emilewicz was quoted as saying in the ministry's Friday press release. "Planned changes in law will make it easier for companies to invest more money in innovation," she added. 14 from 25 indicators were improved. The most significant improvement is for the following indicators:
  • R&D expenditures  (BERD) in GDP (+ 15 %),
  • License and patent revenues from abroad (+ 15%),
  • PCT patent appl. societal challenges (+ 11%),
  • Community designs (+ 8,4%),
  • Community trademarks (+ 8,2%),
  • PCT  patent applications (+ 8 %).
From the analysis based on EIS 2016 results that the indicators for Poland are still on growth. The strengths of Poland are: “Human resources” and “Investments of enterprises”. Full report is available on the website of European Commission. Source: http://www.mr.gov.pl
