Rail on Urbancard. Trains will run on public transport tickets
From Thursday, August 1, you will only need a 24-hour public transport ticket to travel freely on Lower Silesian Railways and Polregio trains within Wroclaw. If you are entitled to a discount or free travel, you can use it on trains as well as on MPK.
You can get to the Wroclaw Main Railway Station on 11 lines from 10 directions. A train ride from Lesnica, Pracze or Świniary takes about fifteen minutes. It takes 10-15 minutes longer from Pawlowice or Wojnowo. With such short travel times, using trains for daily commuting is the optimal solution for some Wroclaw residents.
How do we travel by train in Wroclaw?
The rules of the agglomeration trains are simple:
- You buy a ticket for at least 24 hours.
- The rules for discounts or free rides do not change. If you have a certificate of disability, are a blood donor, are over 65 years of age, are a student at a primary or secondary school and are under 21 years of age - you are entitled.
- You choose a train of Lower Silesian Railways or Polregio.
- You get on and off the train at any station with Wroclaw in its name (e.g. Wroclaw Główny, Wroclaw Swojczyce, Wroclaw Żerniki, etc.) or - if you live in Jagodno - at the Iwiny station.
300 thousand Wroclaw residents on trains
The Marshal of Lower Silesia announces that the project of common tickets will develop in our province.
300 thousand inhabitants of Wroclaw will benefit from free train travel. We have taken the first step towards a common ticket for all means of transport for all Lower Silesians.
Pawel Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship
The Mayor of Wroclaw emphasizes that the agreement on a common ticket for public transport and trains is a proof of the responsibility for the region and its capital that local authorities at all levels are now demonstrating.
The possibility of free train travel in Wroclaw is an important addition to the city's network. I wish you a pleasant journey to and from Wroclaw.
Jacek Sutryk, Mayor of Wroclaw
The Wroclaw poviat has also joined the agreement.
Thanks to the agreement, it will be easier for our residents to commute to their places of study and work. This is the first such fantastic project after the elections, but it will not be the last.
Włodzimierz Chlebosz, Starost of the Wroclaw District
The railway workers are waiting for us on the trains.
The local governments have come to an agreement, the local governments will pay - especially Wroclaw, about 50 million PLN for the next 1.5 years - and the railway workers will take us.
We can also use the Urbancard on Polregio trains. The head of this company emphasizes that trains are the transport of the future. Throughout the European Union, railways are responsible for half a percent of harmful emissions, and all transport for 70 percent.
