The aim of Smart City Day 2025 was to present modern technologies and their practical applications. “To make our lives more efficient,” as we heard during the opening.

Exhibitors, including local entrepreneurs, set up a dozen or so tents. There were companies such as Inpeak, Dolnośląskie Centrum Druku 3D, Seedia, Shen AI, Wroclaw University of Technology, Ekosystem Wroclaw, the police, the Rescue Center, and others.

We want to do something unconventional, move forward, experiment. Wroclaw is to be at the forefront of cities. We are glad that it is the capital of start-ups and that the technologies originating here serve people.

Innovations in Wroclaw

Guests could see, among other things:

  • life bands and mobile CTGs,
  • solar benches, scooter charging stations,
  • tools for measuring vital signs based on biometrics and artificial intelligence,
  • bicycle motion sensors, 3D printing, and a model of an analytical buoy.

There were also workshops as part of the Safe Wroclaw program, including:

  • first aid and sleep apnea prevention classes,
  • free health checks,
  • bicycle marking,
  • classes with robots, 3D printing, and augmented reality coloring books for children.

The event was enlivened by competitions and quizzes. There was also a tap water fountain from MPWiK Wroclaw.

Charging furniture, 3D printing, and measuring cyclist power

We looked inside three tents and saw the following:

Solar charging furniture

Seedia employees showed us:

  • a bench with solar panels,
  • a station with panels (4 stations) for charging scooters.

Nothing could be simpler. There is a bench, there are panels, you can connect your phone and use the sun's energy. There is also an inductive charger (without a cable). Such urban furniture can also be equipped with sensors measuring air quality and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The second product presented at Solny is used to charge scooters with solar energy (traditional and hybrid versions are also produced). The station is operated using an app or QR code. The company has a similar product for charging bicycles.

Seedia will soon install four such devices in Wroclaw and launch them at the turn of September and October:

  • at the main railway station (at the front and rear),
  • near the Magnolia shopping mall,
  • at Pasaż Grunwaldzki.

Printed in three dimensions

The gentlemen from Dolnośląski Druk 3D had items printed in 3D technology under their tent:

  • a Rubik's cube,
  • a superhero figurine,
  • a replica of the World Cup trophy,
  • knight figures on a chessboard,
  • and other wonders.
    • devices for measuring bicycle traffic,
    • and power meters for cyclists.

They invited guests to training sessions aimed at school teachers, students, and entrepreneurs.

Cyclist power meters

The company Inpeak was at Solny with two products:

The former is used in our city to count cyclists in action, identify paths for renovation, etc. The latter helps with training. The device, attached to the crank mechanism of the bicycle, measures the power generated by the pedaling cyclist.
