Startup WRO Meetup is a series of meetings organized by Startup Wroclaw, an initiative supporting the development of Wrocław's innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. It is a space for startup creators, investors, representatives of business, science, and administration who want to exchange experiences, inspire each other, and jointly build the future of new technologies in Wrocław.

Each edition focuses on a different area—from artificial intelligence and fintech to green technologies and gamedev—showcasing the city's potential as one of the most important centers of innovation in Poland.

Premiere of an important report

The event will open with the premiere of the report “Gameddev Industry Legal Challenges,” based on discussions with experts during the Game Industry Conference. The most important conclusions will be presented by Damian Klimas from the dotlaw law firm and Marta Dominiak-Sporma representing Thedy & Partners.

Adequate legal protection at an early stage is the foundation without which even the best game can become a business trap.

Maciej Jacenik from Startup Wroclaw

From idea to market status

The highlight of the program will be the panel discussion “Polishing the Industry: A Status Report on Wrocław & Polish Gamedev” featuring:

  • Edward Mężyk – CEO of Oxygen
  • Damian Klimas – partner at dotlaw
  • Maciej Śledź – researcher at the University of Lower Silesia
  • and insiders from the Wrocław gamedev scene.

Capital, subsidies, and new horizons

In the well-known Fireside Chat – VC Insights format, Maciej Frankowicz from Hard2beat and Mateusz Lichocki will take the stage to talk about their first investment in a company from the Ludus Al sector.

The expert part will be enriched by lectures:

  • Tomasz Florczak (ChallengeRocket): “CASSINI Hackathon Launch,”
  • Małgorzata Brodzicka-Gromadzka (Polish Agency for Enterprise Development): “Fueling the Game: support and subsidies for game development,”
  • Krzysztof Murzyn – on mergers and acquisitions in the industry.

This is a unique meetup, combining the perspectives of creators, lawyers, investors, and public institutions. The Wrocław gamedev ecosystem is maturing and professionalizing at a rapid pace.

A stage dedicated to creators

There will also be a Gamedev Pitch section, during which the following people will present their projects:

  • Thomas Fossgard – Free Fall Entertainment
  • Adrian Jabłonka – Madnetic Games
  • Jan Surudo – TryVinci

After the substantive part, participants will be able to take part in informal networking, where new collaborations and ideas for future projects are often born.

The next Startup WRO Meetup will take place at Concordia Design on Słodowa Island on February 25, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Participation is free, but registration on the event website is required.
