Major investment in energy for the Wroclaw agglomeration

TAURON Dystrybucja has launched a new investment in Siechnice near Wroclaw. It is the Czechnica power station, worth over PLN 54.5 million. It is intended to improve the energy security of the entire Wroclaw agglomeration.
The Czechnica power station has been rebuilt. This will enable the connection of new 180 MW cogeneration units at the Nowa Czechnica CHP plant. The investment is aimed at ensuring the stability and security of energy supplies in the Wroclaw agglomeration. It also aims to provide new connection capacity.
Czechnica power station with a new switchgear
The Czechnica power station has been equipped with a new 110 kV switchgear using GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) technology. The new equipment takes up much less space than the previous one and is more stable and reliable.
The old overhead 110 kV switchgear occupied an area of approximately 1 ha, while the new one is housed in a small control room. The rebuilt station allows for an increase in the connection capacity for new customers and the power of those already connected.
“The expansion of the 110 kV Czechnica station is a strategic investment that will ensure the stability and security of energy supplies in the Wrocław agglomeration,” emphasizes Janusz Pisarek, Director of the Wrocław branch of TAURON Dystrybucja.
New station commissioned eight months ahead of schedule
This is a special day for the residents of Wroclaw and the entire agglomeration. We are participating in the opening of a new station that supplies Wroclaw and improves its safety. We are boldly entering the 21st century in terms of technology. This is a big step towards decarbonization and green energy, a real action. I would like to thank TAURON Dystrybucja for this bold vision, good implementation and completion of the entire process eight months ahead of schedule, because time is of the essence in Wroclaw's decarbonization strategy.
Jakub Mazur, Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw
As Janusz Pisarek emphasizes, "The modern infrastructure will enable further development of the distribution network and the connection of new customers, which responds to the growing demand for electricity in the region.
