The event aims to initiate and facilitate a global discussion on the development of digital space and on current and key issues related to the functioning of the Internet. Jacek Sutryk, Mayor of Wroclaw, sits on the IGF Poland Programme Council, while the Wroclaw local government will be represented at the October summit by the Wroclaw Centre for Social Development (WCRS).

Rich programme

The IGF Poland 2023 Digital Summit includes dozens of lectures and workshops delivered in three thematic tracks: Technologies in the Service of Society, People on the Internet, Digital Legislation Forum. The entire programme is available here.

WCRS has been invited to realise two of its proposals. These are: the discussion 'Countering disinformation as protection of human rights. Examples and reasons for cross-sectoral action" and a workshop for young people: "Socially responsible digitisation - create a definition of the future with us".

Two WCRS proposals

A discussion prepared by the WCRS will look at the consequences of disinformation for: public structures, local order, media coverage and young people, with a particular focus on young people with experience of migration. Experts will explain why and how they work together cross-sectorally to combat disinformation and protect human rights.

And during the workshop, the definition of "Socially Responsible Digitalisation" will be critiqued by young people. This will lead to a new definition, which will be written up, handed over to the organisers of the Summit and thus integrated into the global discussion on Internet governance.

The Summit will take place on 4 October from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wroclaw Congress Centre at the Centennial Hall. The organisation of the conference is the responsibility of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister's Office for Digitalisation and the NASK - National Research Institute. The event is free of charge, but registration is required here.
