The Lower Silesia-Dnipropetrovsk Economic Center initiative was one of the topics of the recent Economic Forum in Karpacz. It was then that the Mayor of Wrocław, Jacek Sutryk, the Marshal of the Province, Paweł Gancarz, and the President of the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vitaliy Zhmurenko, signed a letter of intent for the construction of the Center.

Development of Lower Silesian business in Ukraine

On Wednesday, January 28, a presentation of the newly created Center's offer took place at the triQube Business Incubator on Januszowicka Street in Wrocław. The economic and investment potential of individual Ukrainian partner regions was also presented. The Polish side presented ideas for the region's participation in the reconstruction of the war-torn country (of course, after the official end of the conflict).

We are entering the next stage of our cooperation with our Ukrainian partners. During last year's Economic Forum in Karpacz, we signed letters of intent on mutual cooperation between the Provincial Council and the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Industry, and the Lower Silesian Agency for Economic Cooperation. This has resulted in the creation of the Lower Silesia-Dnipropetrovsk Economic Center in cooperation with the City of Wrocław. Our common goal is to develop economic cooperation, which in the future will enable, among other things, the presence of Lower Silesian regional companies on the Ukrainian market

says Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Province.

In the future, the center will support Lower Silesian investments in Ukraine, but also Ukrainian investments in Lower Silesia. It is also intended to facilitate mutual trade.

"From our perspective in Wrocław, the Lower Silesian-Dnipropetrovsk Economic Center is an opportunity to further exploit the potential of local business. The products and services of Wrocław entrepreneurs will gain new opportunities to enter the Ukrainian market and participate in infrastructure projects," explains Arkadiusz Filipowski, deputy director of the City Brand Department at the City Hall.

The role of the Center in business development

The Center will be tasked with providing Lower Silesian entrepreneurs, including those from Wrocław, with information about national and regional tenders in Ukraine — those that will include the participation of foreign contractors. It is also to be the first point of contact for the Ukrainian side seeking partners for business cooperation in Lower Silesia.

In addition, the Center will conduct training activities, organize B2B meetings, present investment facilities, and create a showroom with examples of Lower Silesian products.

Cooperation between Lower Silesia and Wrocław with Ukraine

Both the Lower Silesian Province and its capital have been cooperating with Ukraine for a long time, and since the beginning of the conflict, they have been helping refugees. In connection with the war, humanitarian activities and aid transports are being carried out, and a hospital has been built.

"Wrocław's cooperation with Ukraine, conducted primarily within the framework of partnerships with Kyiv and Lviv, is long-term in nature, based on joint activities of local governments, cultural institutions, and universities, as well as on interpersonal relations. The Lower Silesia-Dnipropetrovsk Economic Center is yet another form of cooperation that will benefit both sides," emphasizes Ewa Gołąb-Nowakowska, director of the City Hall's Office for International Cooperation.

Lower Silesia's activities will therefore not be limited to providing assistance during the war, but will also continue after it ends. It is important to quickly rebuild Ukraine's economy, which can be achieved through mutual opportunities for business development for Lower Silesians in Ukraine and Ukrainians in Lower Silesia.

The center was established in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (in Dnipro), which is a partner of Lower Silesia. It was initiated by the regional authorities of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The Center is operated by the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Dnipro) and the Lower Silesian Agency for Economic Cooperation.
