The modern training center of XEOS officially presented

“Safety of our families and friends who travel in the air depends on the work we do here” – said Arnold Hoessler from XEOS during the presentation of specialist Training Centre of the company. XEOS is a joint venture of the two leaders in the aviation industry, Lufthansa Technik and GE Aviation. By 2020, the company plans to invest approximately a billion Polish zloty in aircraft engine servicing and repairing plant near Środa Śląska. Operations are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2019. So far, the company created a special training centre in the Prologis Park Wrocław in Bielany Wrocławskie. As their representatives claim, it is the most innovative education centre in the aviation industry in the whole Middle-East Europe. XEOS and aviation valley “Functioning of this facility is the first step for us to create a true aviation valley in Lower Silesia” – said Arnold Hoessler, Quality and Processes Director at XEOS, this Tuesday. Currently, XEOS centre has the area of over 2.5 thousand square metres, and more than 80 people work there. The company's authorities announce the personnel may comprise over 100 persons this year, while the target number of employees of the plant in Środa Śląska is 600 persons. As of now, the company has received over 1.5 thousand job applications from candidates from all over the world. “Such popularity was a positive surprise for us” – admitted Thomas Böttger, Managing Director at XEOS. Big engines to be seen In the premises of the centre, the future workers have their theoretical and practical trainings. Three CF6-80 aircraft engines used in B747-400 and Airbus A330 Boeing aircraft are located there. Soon, the future mechanics will also learn the construction of GEnx-2B engine which ultimately is supposed to be serviced and repaired in XEOS plant in Środa Śląska. GE9X is the second engine which will be worked on in the future in XEOS plant. It is to debut in the market in 2019. This type of engines is manufactured by the joint venture partner, GE Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. The diameter of the GE9X engine will be 4.1. metres and it will weigh 9 tonnes. The dimensions of the GEnx-2B engine are not much smaller than this, as its diameter is 3.3 metres and it weighs almost 6 tonnes. Both engines may be used even for 30 years and their obligatory technical surveys are carried out approximately every 35 thousand flight hours.
