Ranking of European Cities & Regions of the Future 2023/24: what is it?

Following the announcement of the results of the latest report, Wroclaw has something to celebrate. The report compiled by "fDi Magazine" proves that Wroclaw is not only an open and entrepreneurial city, but also business and foreign investment friendly.

Wrocław has been at the top of the ranking compiled by "fDi Magazine" for years, which proves that entrepreneurship and foreign investors feel comfortable in our city. In the case of Wroclaw, we are talking about a combination of many factors that together create an effective magnet and influence the degree of business friendliness. These include excellent location and transportation accessibility, a balanced and diverse economy, good infrastructure, high quality of life for residents, or wide access to talented employees.

fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023 - Business Friendliness. Wroclaw in 1st place

In the category of medium-sized cities (200,000 to 750,000 inhabitants), in which the best conditions for business were evaluated (Mid-sized cities - best for business friendliness), Wroclaw was the best (as it was last year). This ranking took into account, among other things, the number of high-tech companies in the service and R&D sectors.

fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023 - Economic Potential. Wrocław in 4th place

A high 4th place was awarded to Wroclaw in fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023 - Economic Potential category, in which economic potential was assessed.

fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023 - FDI Strategy. Wroclaw in 5th place

5th place Wrocław took in fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023 - FDI Strategy category. This ranking evaluated the foreign direct investment strategy.

fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023 - Human Capital and Lifestyle. Wroclaw in 5th place

Also in 5th place was Wroclaw in fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023 - Human Capital and Lifestyle category. Human Capital and Lifestyle were taken into account in this stay.

In the overall category of fDi's Mid-Sized European Cities of the Future 2023, Wroclaw was in 3rd place as it was a year ago.

On the other hand, in the category in which regions were evaluated in terms of business friendliness - fDi's Mid-Sized European Regions of the Future 2023 - Business Friendliness - Lower Silesia, along with Wroclaw, took a high 2nd place.

MIPIM 2023 in Cannes, France: the world's biggest investors are coming

Traditionally, the awarding of the European Cities & Regions of the Future ranking will take place in Cannes, France, during the MIPIM International Real Estate Fair.

This year's edition of MIPIM 2023 is scheduled for March 14-17. It is 4 days of meetings, lectures and conferences on the investment market.

All the world's biggest investors and developers are always there, as well as architects, consulting and advisory firms, investment funds, cities and regions.

Last year's MIPIM was attended by 17,000 people from 70 countries.

Wroclaw is a leader in attracting investors. What determines this?

The fDi ranking of European Cities and regions of the Future, is compiled by fDi Intelligence, an opinion magazine from the Financial Times Group. The magazine specializes in foreign investment. In this ranking, Wroclaw has been ranked top for years.

  • In European Cities & Regions of the Future 2022/23. Wrocław took first place in the medium-sized cities category for business friendliness and was third among all medium-sized cities. In three other categories, the capital of Lower Silesia was in the top spot.
  • In European Cities and Regions of the Future 2018/19, Wroclaw ranked 2nd in the medium-sized cities category for business friendliness and 7th among all Eastern European cities.
  • In European Cities and Regions of the Future 2016/2017Wroclaw took first place in the category of strategies for attracting foreign direct investment.
  • Wrocław was the only Polish city to be recognized in two categories in the fDi Strategy Awards 2016.
  • Wroclaw was ranked second among the top 10 Eastern European cities in European Cities and Regions of the Future 2014/2015.
