Scanway Space in EagleEye

For the EagleEye project, Scanway from Wroclaw is designing a highly accurate, high-resolution telescope. It will be placed in a satellite and will be directed, not as usual towards stars, but towards Earth. It will allow to obtain images with a resolution of 1 meter per pixel in two bands: visible (VIS) and infrared (NIR). Algorithms based on artificial intelligence will also be implemented in the EagleEye project to obtain better quality images.

The resolution of the telescope designed by Scanway is such that if instead of being in space it would be placed on Sleza and look at Wroclaw, one could see objects as small as 8 cm, for example a dwarf in the Wroclaw Old Town.

The creators of Scanway are the winners of the "30 Creative of Wroclaw 2017 "

- Where the telescope will be pointed, as well as how it will be built and what images it will obtain, depends on the needs of the space mission. The goal of the EagleEye mission is to image the Earth for defense and administrative purposes - Mikołaj Podgórski, chief operating officer of Wroclaw-based technology company Scanway.

Scanway telescope: accuracy, intelligence and temperature resistance

  • The mechanical part of the project is also interesting, as instruments sent into space must endure widely varying temperature conditions.
  • In response to this need, Scanway engineers declare the use of innovative solutions to ensure the athermicity of the entire structure - that is, the stable thermal operation of the telescope in harsh space conditions.
  • Currently, the team is in the final phase of design work, and the telescope tests are scheduled for late 2021.

EagleEye - Poland observes Earth

EagleEye is a Polish space project. It is about building a satellite which will observe the Earth from space. What for? Scanway representatives explain that it's mainly because such observations have been for years an important tool for the Polish defence sector, and obtaining them from foreign entities is expensive. Poland has decided to send into space its own satellite looking at the Earth.

Scanway - Wroclaw's eye in the space

All the most important modules of the satellite are developed in the country, and Polish space industry entities are responsible for their implementation: Creotech, Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Scanway. An important contribution to the success of the mission, i.e. the fulfilment of the task of observing the Earth by the satellite, is made by Scanway Wroc³aw, which makes observation instruments for industry and space.

Scanway Wroclaw space projects - they made the first Polish space drill

The Scanway company from Wroclaw is a 30-person team of specialists in observation technology. They have already completed several space projects, including the first Polish space drill (DREAM experiment), the ScanSAT satellite and the prototype of the satellite system for Earth observation (PIAST).
