City of Wroclaw and Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT signed a cooperation agreement
On March 23, 2026, the City of Wrocław and the Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT officially entered into a partnership that establishes a formal framework for implementing a very wide range of projects related to education, development, promotion, research, and social initiatives.
“This is a natural step for Wrocław, which for years has been building its identity as an open, modern, knowledge-based city. The agreement allows us to formally begin discussions on specific projects and events in areas that are especially important for a contemporary city,” said Jakub Mazur.

“Thanks to this partnership, Wrocław will be able to draw on the scientific and organizational potential of Łukasiewicz – PORT in initiatives aimed at residents, particularly in education, science communication, and activities for children and young people.”
“We want young people to engage with science not only through textbooks, but also through hands-on experience, experimentation, and direct contact with a modern research environment. It is equally important for us that the potential of institutions operating in Wrocław is used wisely, collaboratively, and with a long-term perspective,” he added.
What will the cooperation involve?
The agreement highlights several key areas of collaboration, including:
- strengthening ties between the scientific community and local government,
- organizing joint scientific and educational events, as well as promotional activities,
- cooperation on research and development projects.
An important aspect of the agreement is also the possibility of jointly applying for funding from national and European sources.
Łukasiewicz – PORT to share its expertise
The Wrocław-based Łukasiewicz – PORT, part of the broader Łukasiewicz Research Network, is a modern research and development center and one of the largest research institutions in Poland. It supports the development of new technologies, particularly in health, biotechnology, and materials engineering.

For the city, a key benefit of this partnership is access to an institution that offers not only advanced research infrastructure but also extensive experience in education and science outreach.
“We are a research institute that develops new technologies, and we want to raise public awareness about the importance of scientific progress,” said Prof. Jarosław Bosy.
“Science communication is a key part of our mission. We show that science can be fascinating and closely connected to everyday life—for example, through our Experience Gardens. We organize laboratory classes for schools and families, workshops for seniors and teachers, as well as day camps and field games. Thanks to this cooperation with the City, we will be able to expand these activities on a much larger scale.”
Last year, nearly 5,000 children from Wrocław took part in workshops held in the Experience Gardens.
