"Dolnośląski Gryf - Economic Award" will be awarded this year for the eighteenth time. This event promotes and rewards the most important economic achievements of the region. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, and thus also many problems faced by entrepreneurs and local government officials, these statuettes will also be awarded this year. "Dolnośląski Gryf - Economic Award" is the result of cooperation of an important triangle: local government, business and science.

It is great that we can organize ourselves even in a pandemic to promote the economic strength of the region. The presentation of entrepreneurs and local governments that have a huge impact on it is a great social responsibility. -Grzegorz Dzik, Representative of the Presidium of the Competition, Chairman of the Council of the Western Chamber of Commerce - Employers and Entrepreneurs.

The choice was not easy

This year, the statuettes will be awarded in nine competition categories: Award for an innovative business idea, Lower Silesian Product of the Year, Leader of effective digital transformation, Employer effectively responding to changes, Award for activities to reduce the social effects of the pandemic, Environmentally conscious company, Award for local governments for an effective shielding program for companies, Leader of the Year and the Best Interdisciplinary Project.

This competition matures and develops from year to year, which is extremely impressive. In some categories we had a very big problem with the selection because there were so many great submissions.-prof. Andrzej Kaleta, chairman of the Chapter of the "Dolnośląski Gryf - Economic Award" competition, rector of the University of Economics in Wrocław.

Most nominees from Wrocław

Among the nominated enterprises, there were also two city companies from Wrocław - Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne Sp. z o.o. and Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji S.A. The first of them has a chance to be rewarded for efforts to reduce the social impact of the pandemic. The jury appreciated the fact that, going beyond the statutory obligations of the municipal company, from the very first days it was very actively involved in helping people affected by the negative effects of the pandemic. Szczepciobus and Streetbus are just some of the initiatives supporting the inhabitants of Wrocław in this difficult time.

In turn, MPWiK is nominated for the title of the leader of effective digital transformation for the use of the latest technologies, which significantly save water and increase the protection of natural resources.

Most of the other nominees are also enterprises operating in the capital of Lower Silesia.

There are specific people behind each success

There are specific people and companies behind each success and development. We owe the fact that we are the most dynamically developing region in Poland to them. Therefore, we not only want to present them as a model, but also present them to the world. Some of these companies, despite their unquestionable successes, need to be persuaded to boast of really great achievements.-Cezary Przybylski, Marshal of the Lower Silesia Province

The competition is organized by: the Western Chamber of Commerce - Employers and Entrepreneurs, the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the Content Partner, PwC.

The Great Business Gala, during which the Lower Silesian Griffins will be awarded, will be held on October 27 at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław.
