Two leading research and development centres from Wrocław, the biggest research infrastructure in this part of Europe, over 200 qualified scientists, and experience gained all over the world are what defines Wrocław Research Centre EIT+ and KGHM Cuprum - Research and Development Centre. The companies have joined their resources and begun cooperation. The compact between WRC EIT+ and KGHM Cuprum - RDC epitomises the specificity of the present time - the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) is being propagated all over the world, while Wrocław has for years aspired to be the capital of innovation. The key to the full participation in this revolution is the automation and internationalisation of operations, which require considerable resources - not only material ones but also human and research-related. This is what is already happening in Wrocław with rivalry giving way to joined forces and potentials. From now on, researchers working at both Companies will be able to use all of the laboratories available to them, jointly conduct projects financed with public funds, and apply for these funds together. - We are aware of the mutual benefits from tightening cooperation. It ensures the efficient combination of knowledge and experiences, which makes it possible to develop new solutions beneficial for science and industry - stated President of the board of Polska Miedź S.A. Radosław Domagalski-Łabędzki. - I expect that its results will let KGHM strengthen its position among the global leaders in the mining industry while benefiting the economy and its sustainable development. The signing of a letter of intent was a symbolic act marking the establishment of the cooperation between EIT+ and KGHM Cuprum in the areas of R&D, scientific research and business. - The compact with EIT+ is more than signing a letter of intent - stressed President of the board of KGHM Cuprum Piotr Dytko. - It’s already happening. We have already started joint projects and are talking about new ones. Together, we are creating a research and development ecosystem, as what’s important for us is the synergy between the potential of EIT+ and what KGHM Cuprum offers - asserted President Dytko - A new chapter in the history of Cuprum begins now. We have recently signed an agreement on implementation PhD’s, and now we’re signing an agreement in relation to our cooperation with EIT+. In this way, we are joining the forces of 32 laboratories and over 200 researchers. I also want to stress that this cooperation perfectly matches KGHM’s strategy for the years 2017-2020, where innovation-oriented activity is one of the pillars. This compact indispensable for the accomplishment of our mission - emphasised President Dytko. The other party can also see the benefits of the newly sealed cooperation - This compact is first and foremost important to entrepreneurs - said Mateusz Wilczyński, Vice President of the Board of Wrocław Research Centre EIT+. - It significantly broadens the offering of specialist laboratory services in Lower Silesia for all our business partners, particularly in the area of mineralogy analyses using advanced techniques - explained Vice President Wilczyński.
