Young Wrocław citizens debate the “Wrocław 2050” Strategy
The two-day youth debates at the Olympic Stadium will be filled with workshops and presentations on the “Wrocław 2050” Strategy. The document is being developed under the banner of the City Strategy Office of the Wrocław City Hall.
The youth debates, with the participation of dozens of high school students, are being sponsored by the City Strategy Office of the Wrocław City Hall and the Wrocław Social Development Center. Scheduled for two days, the event will be filled with workshops and presentations on the “Wrocław 2050” Strategy.
The text of the Strategy is almost ready. Young Wrocław citizens have been involved in its creation since 2021. Today we want them to tell us to what extent the goals and directions of activities presented in the document, are understandable to them. We are waiting for their hints as to what should be highlighted, what should be reformulated.
Marzena Horak, director of the City Strategy Office of the Wrocław City Hall
On this basis - already after the strategy is passed, we intend to prepare a brief for residents on the content of the document. These are young people from different high schools, they represent different points of view, different perspectives. Their opinions are important to us, and they are a demanding partner. They are brave in communicating their views, they have an opinion and can defend it.
Mentors listen to young people
Workshop participants worked in five working groups:
- High quality of life in a good space;
- Strengthening the national and international position of Wroclaw;
- Security, crisis resilience and climate neutrality;
- Health, mutual aid, trust;
- High quality of education, science, culture.
Debates in teams of several people were conducted with the participation of mentors. This included representatives of city institutions and magistrate units: Wroclaw Agglomeration Development Agency, the Office of Cooperation with Higher Education Institutions, the Office of Sustainable Mobility, the Department of Climate and Energy, and the Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Wroclaw for Equal Treatment.
- I came to listen and see how Wroclaw will develop. I am curious about other people's ideas. Our participation in this project is a form of gift to the next generation of young Wroclawers,” says seventeen-year-old Zuzanna Espenschied.
Michalina Dudkiewicz, a student of the 16th High School in Wroclaw: - I am interested in volleyball, I like to read, and in the strategy I will focus on solutions for these activities, namely sports and culture.
