The inspection of the investment areas which were qualified to the second stage of the "Grunt na Medal (Ground for Medal)" contest has been completed in the Lower Silesia. From 6 properties the contest board will choose one winner - the best area which will be particularly promoted and recommended to the investors. The final of the contest will take place in October. For a few days the board composed of the representatives of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, Marshal's Office and Lower Silesian Agency of Economic Cooperation carried out audits in the communes of Długołęka, Mietków, Oborniki Śląskie, Strzelin, Wiązów and Złotoryja, in order to choose the best area for industrial investments. Six out of sixteen areas which made it to the second stage of the contest are attractive locations for the future investments. They are of different sizes and purposes in the planning documents. Companies from different business branches may invest in here, for example production, logistics, food processing companies, or even travel ones, as it is in the case of Mietków. The evaluated areas are not competitive towards each other, but they expand and diversify the investment offer of the Lower Silesia. In our region there are approximately 300 investment areas, but only around 50 of them meet the standards, and these are usually properties located in Special Economic Zones. Self-governments, in order to make the remaining areas attractive for the buyers, must duly prepare them through, for example, connection of utilities, adoption of spatial development plans, change of the status of farm land (from agricultural to residential), and proper service of the investors. 142 communes form the entire country took part in this year's, 7th edition of the contest, submitting 179 investment area offers. 81 plots of land were qualified to the second stage of the contest. Out of these areas, the board will choose 16 best ones in Poland, one for each of the voivodeships. The most active communes (measured by the number of the communes which took part in the contest) were from the Greater Poland, Lodz, Silesian and Lower Silesian voivodeships. Last year's winner from the Lower Silesia was Kobierzyce commune. The property Magnice 4E, with the area of 23.14 ha, was one of sixteen most attractive investment lands in Poland, and the most attractive plot of land in the entire region.
