Assistance in creating new jobs, consultancy, training, workshops and support in building social enterprises are key goals of the project named "Lower Silesian Social Economy Support Centres". The project will be carried out in the Wrocław sub-region and the city of Wrocław by the Regional Centre to Support Non-Governmental Initiatives and the Centre for Support of Entrepreneurship. The organisations have just obtained 4.02 million PLN for this purpose from a EU subsidy managed by the Lower Silesian Employment Office. The cost of the undertaking amounts to 4.16 million PLN. They will help those in danger of poverty and social exclusion - Thanks to these funds it will be possible to undertake actions including initiation of new non-governmental organisations and social cooperatives, vocational activity units, occupational therapy workshops and a social integration centre - says Paulina Dobrowolska of the Regional Centre to Support Non-Governmental Initiatives. - Also existing social economy entities and business operations of associations, foundations and social cooperatives will be supported. The project is expected to contribute to creation of at least 72 new workplaces over the three coming years. The Lower Silesian Social Economy Support Centre is to support entities and groups of people who - through their operation - activate socially and professionally people in danger of poverty or social exclusion hailing from the Wrocław sub-region and the city of Wrocław. The project will be carried out until May 31 2019. Not only Wrocław Apart from Wrocław and the Wrocław sub-region, funds to stimulate the non-governmental organisations and social economy sector went to three other Lower Silesian sub-regions - Wałbrzych, Jelenia Góra and Legnica-Głogów. Overall, almost 300 full-time workplaces in both new and already operating social enterprises are going to be created in Lower Silesia thanks to the undertaking. Furthermore, around 120 local social groups will be activated to start operating in the social economy sector, while 60 non-governmental organisations will start a payable activity of a public benefit or business operation. The support will benefit almost 2.1 thousand people and institutions. The projects' total cost amounts to over 16.57 million PLN, 16.05 million of which is a EU subsidy.
