"Modern citizen-friendly Regions" - this is the slogan of this year's Congress of Regions, which will take place between 26-27 of September in the National Forum of Music. The Congress of Regions is the largest gathering of representatives of local and national administration as well as from the world of business, culture and media including representatives of non-governmental organisations. The event is organised by the City of Wrocław, the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesia Voivodeship and the Onet-RAS Polska Group. The special guest of the 7th Congress of Regions will be Kenneth Livingstone, mayor of London in the years 2000-2008 and one of the C40 Climate leaders - an initiative of mayors from all over the world started in 2005, under which many plans for sustainable growth of big cities have been developed. The discussion panels will touch on subjects close to the citizens, authorities and business. The speakers will tackle the issue of depopulation and the education policy of local governments. During the congress there will be no shortage of discussions on participatory budget and building citizen involvement in the affairs of their cities. There are also plans for a discussion on public-private partnership and other tools of supporting business by local governments. During the gala dinner ending the first day of congress, the winners of the rankings will be announced: The Presidents of the N15 cities and cities attractive for business as well as the "Metamorphosis in my Region. Before and after" competition. The novelty of this year's congress is the accompanying event Sport Cities Congress "Polska na medal" (Poland for the Gold). Sport business experts will speak on subjects related to the development of sport in Poland.
